About Me
Welcome! I am an Associate Professor of Computer Science at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE). My primary research interest is in Cyber Security and its intersection with Cyber-Physical Systems and Critical Infrastructure. I am particularly interested in Formal Verification of Security Properties, Protocol Analysis, Information Flow Analysis, Cryptography, and Distributed Computing. I have over 8 years of working experience in advanced power grid (smart grid) related research at various stages of my academic and professional career.
I was as an Assistant Professor at SIUE between Fall 2014 and Spring 2020. Prior to that I was an Assistant Research Professor at Washington State University for two years, where I was part of the GridStat Project and TCIPG. My Ph.D. (in Computer Science) is from Missouri S&T, which I completed in December 2011 under Dr. Bruce McMillin. I also worked as a postdoctoral researcher for the FREEDM center and led its software development team at Missouri S&T between Jan-May of 2012. I received my M.S. in Computer Science from the St. Cloud State University (2008) and B.S. in Computer Engineering from the University of Peradeniya (2006) Sri Lanka.
I spent my faculty sabbatical at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) from August 2023 - August 2024 as a Research Associate. Our research groups worked on developing co-simulation capabilities to assess performance assessment of Autonomous Vehicles (AVs).
