Fall 1999 Senior Project Teams
Description:
Dr. Blain, our client, developed a board game that he uses extensively in his classes. He contacted the Computer Science department in order to gather a team to convert this board game for the computer. A team was assigned the project and they successfully converted the game into a working application. One of the shortcomings of their program was that it only ran locally and all six players had to use the same machine, which meant they had to take turns. This went against one of the basic elements of the game, which encourages a sense of free for all play in which players can take turns simultaneously. Dr. Blain went back to the Computer Science department to see if they could come up with a solution to solve this problem. The answer arrived at was to gather another team and convert the existing application to allow for network play. This would give each player his or her own machine and allow for free for all play. In order to achieve our objective we must create a client module, a server module, and make minor changes to the design of the existing application.
