In the world of technological research the biotech and software development, industries are two of the most active. Edmond Abrahamian works in the middle-ground between these industries known as Discovery Informatics. On October 13th at 4:30pm in the Engineering Building Auditorium, however, Dr. Abrahamian will be taking a few hours off from hunting for useful molecules to discuss some new software that his team has developed.

Here is what Dr. Abrahamian has to say about this software. "Most existing bitmap containers used to store molecular descriptors are poorly suited for descriptors that can span a very large solution space. We present a bitmap container that uses a compression scheme to characterize the bitmap, while allowing on-the-fly bitmap operations on the compressed bitmap, with no need to decompress it first. Examples and detailed performance analyses will be presented."
